Twitch Songwriters is the first fully O&O Original Content property focused entirely on the Twitch Music Community. A weekly songwriting and performance competition show in which Twitch Musicians (or channels) create an original song, live on their channels, based on a prompt chosen by the audience.
Each episode features a different group of 6 musicians, who spend one week creating their song, and then perform it live on the show.
In each episode, a panel consisting of 2 “core” judges and one rotating “guest judge”, give their reactions and feedback, as well as submit a score, for each performance. The judges scores, as well as an audience score, are averaged to determine a “final score” for each performer. The highest final score determines the episode’s winner, who receives a cash prize.
Songwriters utilized a multi-channel distribution model in which each episode was broadcast to /twitchmusic, as well as each participating creator's channel, resulting in the show being live to 11 unique channels simultaneously every episode.
Songwriters required an approach to interaction that was not possible with conventional polling tools, so we commissioned Warp World Inc. to create “Chat Scores”, which allowed for score based polls, in which a user submits numerical scores within customizable categories. The extension worked across channels, aggregating user submissions in real time from each of the participating streamer channels.
